Report: Volkswagen may buy stake in Russia’s GAZ Group – exec

BERLIN/MOSCOW, Nov 2 (PRIME) -- Germany’s Volkswagen will discuss the purchase of a stake in Russian carmaker GAZ Group, Andreas Renschler, a member of the board of management of Volkswagen AG and CEO of Volkswagen Truck & Bus GmbH, said in an interview to magazine Manager Magazin published on Thursday.

The two companies are discussing different cooperation options, including exports of truck cabins to GAZ Group by Volkswagen’s Brazilian unit, and cooperation in the sphere of commercial vans. When asked whether the cooperation may include a purchase of a stake, Renschler said that the companies will discuss it.

GAZ and Volkswagen Group Rus declined to comment.

Engineering company Russian Machines is the main shareholder of GAZ.
